To celebrate Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's historic Platinum Jubilee, HRH Sophie Countess of Wessex visited the Special Olympics sports complex.
SNAG Cake Sale at the Piazza
Organised by the Special Needs Action Group for World Autism Awareness Week, raising awareness and funds for SOG. This was a special cake sale which included produce from St Bernadettes and cakes made by SOG supported employees at the SOG Sports Complex Cafe whose staff have, throughout the year, been teaching and helping some of our athletes there to learn some cookery skills and produce some very tasty dishes under the watchful eye of the Café cooks Moncho and Ismael
Visit of the Governor to SOG Sports Complex
Special Olympics Gibraltar Executive Committee were honoured by the visit of HE The Governor of Gibraltar Sir David Steel, to their Special Olympics Gibraltar Sports Complex. He was Greeted by Chairman Dennis Lafferty and President/CEO Annie Risso.
Hound Dogs Charity Event
FC Hound Dogs held their yearly Charity Event to raise money for Special Olympics Gibraltar. The event was won by Nana Coco FC who took home the trophy. Well done to everyone involved,, a total of £1450 was raised.
Afternoon Tea
Chief Minister Fabian Picardo organised an afternoon tea for the athletes traveling to Berlin to wish them every success in the Games. In a great atmosphere the athletes enjoyed sharing their stories with Fabian and there was a great vibe, with the Minister for Sport and Minister for Equality also there.
Training Match
The Round Table and SOG Futsal unified team held a training match at the Complex.
The score I think best to say that SOG team managed to come tops again, but the best was the great ambience and the camaraderie between them.
Halloween Party - Special Olympics Café
For the first time, a great initiative by SOG Family Coordinator Yvonne Mauro who, supported by her family, organised a Halloween party in the SOG Sports Complex. It was well attended and the ages of our athletes were quite varied but they had such great fun.
Christmas Party - Special Olympics Café
To follow up on the success of the halloween party the Yvonne organised another, very successful, fancy dress Christmas party.

The annual Calpe City charity event was held at the Complex Lincoln Red Imps winners of U9 Cavalcade Cup
Special Olympics Café -60's-70's Night
Another successful fancy dress party organised by Yvonne. Again a very well attended event, where everyone had a great time with the amazing food prepared by Ismael and Moncho from the café
Gibraltar College - Charity Event
Gibraltar College A2 Business students have organized a fantastic futsal tournament at the Sports Complex
As part of their coursework, these students took on the challenge to promote and manage this fun event. Working in small teams, they learned firsthand how marketing, human resources, finance, and operations are crucial for success in any endeavour.
Mexican Night - Special Olympics Cafe
Tremendous Mexican night, organised by our family coordinator Yvonne who did a tremendous job Thank you all.
Details were magical and the food prepared by the team from Special olympics cafe was scrumptious.
Inauguration of the SOG Sports Complex.
The Special Olympics Gibraltar Sports Complex was officially by the Chief Minister. Also present were David Evangelista, President and Managing Director of Special Olympics, Europe & Eurasia, the Minister for Sport Steven Linares and Special Olympics National Director Annie Risso.
Gareth Cowin memorial trophy held at the Complex.
The family of a Manx Special Olympian who died in South Korea have said they are overwhelmed by the support they have received on and off the Isle of Man.
Gareth , 25, died in PyeongChang whilst representing the island at the Special Olympics World Winter Games.
Borders and Coastguards - Charity Event
Officers from the Borders and Coastguard Agency held 2 futsal leagues involving Special Olympics Gibraltar Football team.
The aim was to help raise funds for SOG also allow our players to gain more experience.

Tremendous support for the tournament in aid of Special Olympics Gibraltar.
8 teams participated and the winners who were Nana Coco FC who beat Dripski FC 4-3
